Frequently Asked Questions
Are you actually making these pens in the US?
Yes! I purchase various wood and acrylics from local sources and turn them right here in Dunedin, FL! Hop over to the Facebook Page and see me in action!
Why the limited shipping options?
At the moment, shipping prices are insane. USPS Priority for small packages is the best rate I can get you guys at the moment, so that and Local Pickup are what’s available. I’ll work on this more in the new year.
The Check Out Page said I had to read some stuff?
Yes. First and Foremost, these wooden pens are made from trees. Though this wood is kiln dried, the wood may shift over time. That shouldn’t be a problem as the pens have plenty of space to expand and contract. That said, I do not recommend keeping these pens subjected to high humidity or below freezing temperatures for long periods of time.
Please also read the FINISHES page to understand what exactly you’ll be getting depending on the finish.
These pens are not rated for snorkeling, scuba diving, booger picking, for use as a hammer, planning world domination, or anything that requires a NSFW tag on reddit.
My cousin’s nephew 7 times removed has a best friend whose girlfriend knows this old moonshiner whose
third wife married his sister’s great grandmother and they said they could make this same thing for cheaper!
Awesome! The wood turning community needs more people to keep this art going! I hope they make you something wonderful!
About THICC BOI pens:
These pens are known as “Wasp Bodies”. Sometimes when I’m turning a piece of wood, it’s just too pretty to risk turning it smaller and losing the grain pattern. So, Thicc Boi pens became a thing. I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, DO NOT USE THE PEN CLIP TO ATTACH THE PEN TO YOUR CLOTHING OR ANYTHING THAT COULD BE CUT BY SCISSORS. I don’t have a good way to reshape the pen clips, so they’re very tight towards the top and will absolutely act like a pair of scissors to most things that try to slide under it. You can totally let them hang around on their clip, just don’t try to push them all the way down.
I saw a pen I really liked, but it sold before I could buy it. Can you make another one just like it for me?
One exactly like it? Sadly, no. Every tree is different. Their grain patterns can change rapidly. There are pens I put together that are from the same 5” stick of wood but in the 1/4” gap between the halves the grain changes so much they look like they’re from different trees. What I CAN do though, is make you a pen from the same species of wood. If I can, I’ll use a piece whose grain pattern looks like it might be similar to what you saw, but there is no way for me to make identical pens. Use the contact page to reach out to me for requests!
I’ve got some wood from a tree I dropped in my backyard last weekend. Can you spin it into a pen for me?
Yes! Just not right away. The finishes I use require the wood to be at a pretty low moisture level, which newly felled trees are way, way above. Reach out to me via the Contact page and let’s talk about a timeline on it though, we can figure something out!
Family member? Don’t buy a pen for someone in the family before talking to me first!
I might have already made one for them, lol.
I want to place an order for a large number of pens, can you do that?
Reach out to me via the contact page and let’s look at the time frame!
